Boiler Repairs
Has your boiler suffered an unexpected breakdown?
There are numerous reasons for a boiler to stop supplying heat and hot water, such as worn diaphragms and airlocks, faulty thermostats, failed valves or just a low water level. Before our gas engineers can start boiler repairs, they investigate the cause and provide you with an accurate, easy-to-understand diagnosis. From there, we recommend the best course of action.
Sometimes, we may return to your Haywards Heath or Burgess Hill property if we don’t have the parts we need on our vans.
It is important that you call in registered gas engineers as soon as you notice a leak or a drip from a boiler. Left unchecked, leaks quickly worsen to cause property damage and pose safety risks. Common causes of a leaking or dripping boiler include worn internal components. Worn pump seals and failed pressure valves also cause a series of boiler issues.
Boiler repairs are often just a case of our plumbers and gas engineers fitting new seals or small sections of pipework.
If you hear a banging, whistling or gurgling noise when you have your boiler in use, try not to worry too much. Low water pressure, a worn pump or kettling (caused by limescale in your central heating system) will be the most common causes. Most parts on a boiler are easy for us to replace anyway, and we offer a powerflushing service to clean pipework of debris.
Our gas engineers will identify the exact cause and location of the noise, and recommend which boiler repairs you need.
Something as simple as a draught of wind can blow the pilot light out, or sometimes just a deposit of dirt inside. Slightly more problematic causes for this issue include broken thermocouples. We ask that our Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and West Sussex clients try to relight their pilot light by following the manufacturer handbook for their boiler first.
If you feel uncomfortable doing this, give us a call. If any issues reoccur, you may need to book in for boiler repairs.
Most, if not all boilers, have a pressure gauge built into the front panel. If your gauge reads below 1 bar, the lack of pressure will reduce your system’s functionality. This could be due to a water leak, or because a pressure valve needs swapping out. If you recently bled your radiators, it might be because of this and you’ll need to let the pressure build up.
